Written by Slobodan Simic

Best value power supply unit

EVGA has announced a new addition to its lineup of power supply units that aims at budget builders rather than enthusiasts. The EVGA 500B PSU provides 500W of continous power features a single +12V rail. It also supports the latest Intel 4th gen Core Haswell CPUs.

The EVGA 500B features a 80 Plus Bronze certification with up to 85 percent efficiency under typical loads and comes equipped with all the usual protections including over power, under power, over voltage and short circuit protection. As noted, it provides 500W of power and feature a single +12V rail delivering 40Amps. It is cooled by what appears to be a 120mm fan with "quiet and intelligent" Auto Fan feature for silent operation.

EVGA opted for highest quality Japanese brand capacitors and in case you are wondering, you get standard 24-pin ATX, 8-pin EPS12V, two 6+2-pin PCI-Express, six SATA, three Molex and one FDD connectors.

It is backed by a rather unique three-year warranty and is currently available for pre-order at the EVGA web shop for €44,90 and US $49.99.
